Published: October 1, 2024 — The BBC will show the CBS News Vice Presidential Debate between Democrat Vice Presidential candidate Tim Walz, and Republican Vice Presidential live to UK and international audiences on the BBC News Channel, BBC One, iPlayer, BBC News Website and app, along with FAST/CTV platforms in the US from 1am-5am BST Wednesday 2 October and (8pm – Midnight EDT Tuesday 1 October).
BBC News will be anchored by Chief Presenters Caitríona Perry in New York and Sumi Somaskanda in Washington D.C., with BBC’s North America Editor Sarah Smith and correspondent Anthony Zurcher on the ground in New York at the debate. Nada Tawfik will be reporting during day from New York.
The debate will be streamed live on the BBC News website and app, with real-time analysis in the live page led by Anthony Zurcher, BBC’s North America Correspondent and fact-checking by BBC Verify U.S.
The Americast team Sarah Smith and Anthony Zurcher will be recording a debate special with Marianna Spring – dropping first thing Wednesday morning UK time on BBC Sounds, along with a The Global Story special. There will also be post-debate analysis in U.S. Election Unspun, BBC’s biweekly newsletter on U.S. politics.
