Top 10 Week of Dec. 11: ‘Leave the World Behind’ Stays on Top

‘My Life with the Walter Boys’ Rises to #1

Viewers weren’t ready to leave behind the apocalyptic thriller Leave the World Behind, starring Julia Roberts, Ethan Hawke, Mahershala Ali, and Myha’la. The film, directed by Sam Esmail, was once again the most viewed title of the week, notching 44.9M views. Rumaan Alam’s novel on which the movie is based also returned to the New York Times bestseller list following the film’s premiere on Netflix. Fans continued to get intertwined in the newest love triangle of Jackie, Cole and Alex and sent Season 1 of the coming-of-age drama My Life with the Walter Boys to the top of the English TV List with 12.8M views and reached the Top 10 in 88 countries.

It was another strong week for family films on the English Films List. New animated film Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget debuted at #2 (11.9M views), Adam Sandler’s animated comedy Leo came in at #3 (9.4M views), Family Switch claimed #4 (9.4M views) and The Super Mario Bros. Movie took #5 (8.9M views).

Over on the English TV List, the sixth and final season of The Crown rose to #2 with 5.8M views following the release of the drama’s final six episodes. Season 1 of the raunchy action-comedy Obliterated landed at #3 (5.2M views) while reality competition series Squid Game: The Challenge stayed strong at #5 (3M views).

Following in the footsteps of ONE PIECE, our latest live-action manga adaptation, Yu Yu Hakusho (Japan), also appears to be a hit with fans globally. The eagerly anticipated new series debuted at the top of the Non-English TV List with 7.7M views and is the biggest debut for any Netflix Japanese series. Season 1 of the romantic comedy My Demon (Korea) spent its fourth week on the list at #2 (4.2M views) while the gritty crime drama Blood Coast (France) took #3 (3.8M views). Season 3 of reality dating series Single’s Inferno (Korea) opened at #4 (3.6M views).

The thriller Blood Vessel (Nigeria) climbed its way to the top of the Non-English Films List with 4.4M views. The musical comic adaptation The Archies (India) danced to #4 (1.3M views) while the new drama Familia (Mexico) debuted at #6 (1M views). Dystopian survival thriller Nowhere returned to the list at #8 (1M views) and climbed to #2 on the Most Popular List with 83.7M all-time views.
