New York-based pop artist Thomas Cole is set to release his highly anticipated EP “Watch Me” on November 22, 2024. This new three-track collection marks a bold evolution in Thomas’ sound and storytelling, diving into deeply personal themes of defiance, resilience, and self-expression.
Following the optimistic spirit of his debut album Late to Bloom, Thomas Cole’s Watch Me EP shifts towards a rawer, more vulnerable perspective that emphasizes empowerment. Thomas says,
“This new EP is a raw and unfiltered exploration of struggle. As I enter this new era, I’m feeling extremely emotional and vulnerable, but also empowered—taking back my power from those who’ve tried to diminish my truth.”
The title track, “Watch Me”, serves as both a personal declaration and an anthem. Responding to those who questioned his aspirations and identity, Thomas’s unflinching confidence shines through. He explains,“People suggested I couldn’t have a family or a fulfilling life after coming out, but my response was always, ‘Watch me.’”
The second track, “Miserable Fck”, delves into the complexity of maintaining relationships while combating inner struggles. Inspired by a heated argument that used those very words, the song channels frustration and longing with an electronic edge and rock influences.“This song lets out the scream we all sometimes feel inside,” says Thomas. “It’s about transcending those tough times, even when they’re messy.”
The final song, “Shut Up & Listen”, blends rock and electronic rhythms to tell a story of self-empowerment. In this track, Thomas explores the fight to be seen and heard in a society often aiming to silence authentic voices.
A music video for “Watch Me” will also premiere on November 22, featuring an exciting visual journey that mixes burlesque, BDSM, and retro 1950s voyeurism with a modern virtual reality twist.
