Steve Sloan Returns to His Musical Roots with New Album Old Mexico – Out Now!

Marin County, CA – November 15, 2024 – Acclaimed musician and humanitarian Steve Sloan is excited to announce the release of his new album, Old Mexico, a 14-song collection celebrating timeless folk sounds and featuring five original compositions. Known for his spirited musical interpretations and multi-instrumental talents, Sloan has crafted an album that captures the magic of acoustic folk music, evoking warmth and nostalgia in every track.

In Old Mexico, Sloan showcases his musical versatility, playing all the instruments except steel/bass guitar and mandolin. With his cherished Martin D-35 dreadnought guitar leading the way, Steve also plays harmonica, drums, tambourine, rhythm sticks, cymbals, whistling, and the unique gazatchka, while handling vocal leads and harmonies. The album’s rich layers were achieved through the art of multi-track recording, enabling Sloan to create an immersive sound that is both elegantly simple and profoundly stirring.

Sloan’s journey with music began in Nebraska, where he worked his way through college, the Sorbonne University in Paris, and law school, armed only with his guitar. After forming the duo “Steve & Gail” with Miss Omaha 1966, Gail Randall, he toured the nation’s folk houses and nightclubs. In 1969, the pair joined The New Christy Minstrels, one of America’s beloved folk groups known for their 14 gold records.

Beyond music, Sloan dedicated 46 years to a successful career in real estate investment and brokerage. He also spent 15 years leading a humanitarian organization that aided over one million individuals, rescuing Jews, Baptists, and Jehovah’s Witnesses from persecution in the Soviet Union. Today, Steve and his wife Michi, together for 51 years, live in Marin County, California, surrounded by family and friends.

With Old Mexico, Steve Sloan invites listeners to experience a powerful, heartfelt journey through folk music, honoring his past while bringing his stories to a new generation.

Old Mexico is available now on all major streaming platforms and CD.
