New Recurring Broadcast Segment will Feature Influential Cultural Voices from Outside Washington
December 22, 2023 — Meet the Press with Kristen Welker will air a special edition broadcast this Sunday, “Meet the Moment,” featuring conversations with a series of influential voices outside the political sphere who are speaking out on issues impacting the nation’s politics. The special edition launches a new recurring segment that will feature regularly on the Sunday broadcast.
Sunday’s broadcast will feature moderator Kristen Welker’s conversations with four of these guests, each of whom represent a unique perspective on issues that are shaping Americans’ attitudes beyond the day-to-day headlines of U.S. politics:
- Olympic gold medalist Allyson Felix on the state of Black maternal health in the United States
- Actor Selma Blair on how her Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis has spurred her advocacy for fair pay for the disability community
- Author and Atlantic staff writer Tim Alberta on changes in the American evangelical church
- Iranian journalist and activist Masih Alinejad on her push for women’s rights in Iran and around the world
Led by moderator Kristen Welker, “Meet the Moment” adds to a key piece of the legacy of Meet the Press, which has featured conversations with some of history’s most influential cultural leaders – including Jackie Robinson,Megan Rapinoe, Martin Luther King, Jr., Robert Frost, Gloria Steinem, Michael Jordan, and Jane Fonda – throughout its 76-year history.
The “Meet the Moment” special edition of Meet the Press airs Sunday morning on NBC.
