Sky News launches Friday Night with Niall Paterson

Friday evenings on Sky News are getting livelier with a new primetime show hosted by Niall Paterson launching November 3rd.

Join Niall for a fresh look back at the news that made the headlines that week and a look ahead to the stories that might develop over the weekend.

Each show will feature a high-profile guest from one of the week’s big stories, and Niall will be joined by a panel in the studio to reflect on the highs and lows of the people and topics that have been leading the news agenda.

In addition to the day’s headlines at the top of each hour, the show will cover sports, entertainment, UK and international news – with no subject off limits.

The new show will be available to watch on Sky News – Freeview 233, the Sky News website and App, as well as YouTube.

David Rhodes, Executive Chairman of Sky News Group, said: “Friday nights have a different feel and Niall has the range of interests to make this a great programme online and on TV. He’ll cover the best of the cultural conversation but can just as easily pivot to breaking news when circumstances warrant”.

Niall Paterson, Sky News presenter and host of the Sky News Daily podcast, said: “Join us on Sky News every Friday for an in-depth look at the week that was in news – If it made the headlines, we’ll be reviewing it. No topic is off limit, and we want viewers to get involved and have their say on the issues that matter to them”.

Audiences can send in their thoughts and questions each week via the Sky News website.

In close to 20 years at Sky News Niall has covered a broad range of roles. Starting as a political correspondent, during which time he revealed Gordon Brown’s “bigoted woman” comments to a stunned nation, he then spent time as defence correspondent during the fall of Libya and the bloodiest days of the Afghanistan conflict. He also covered the independence referendum as Scotland correspondent before returning to London to take up the role of presenter.

Since then, Niall has worked across Sky’s flagship programmes including Breakfast and the Sunday politics show, every domestic election night, as well as producing “My King, My Country”, a documentary marking the accession of King Charles III.

From 3 November, Friday Night with Niall Paterson will air Fridays 7pm – 10pm and will be available to watch on Sky News – Freeview 233, Sky 501, Virgin 603, BT 313, YouTube & the Sky News website and App.
