Sky News announces new show - The UK Tonight with Sarah-Jane Mee - Starts Monday 2 October at 8pm

Sarah-Jane Mee will host a new primetime show on Sky News focused on UK news.

Launching on October 2nd and airing Monday-Thursdays 8pm-9pm, The UK Tonight with Sarah-Jane Mee will dig into the issues people across the country are talking about and explain and analyse the news stories they need to know in a dynamic hour of domestic news.

The new show will be available to watch on Sky News – Freeview 233, the Sky News website and App, as well as YouTube.

With a thoughtful look at the people at the heart of the headlines and featuring powerful interviews, lively debate and spiky discussion, the show will include original journalism and analysis from Sky News’ team of expert correspondents.

Sarah-Jane Mee, Lead UK News Presenter, Sky News said: “The UK Tonight will be an hour of interviews, discussion and debate and will be a showcase for Sky News’ original journalism. We’ll get to the heart of the big issues people are talking about at the dinner table, in the school carpark or down the pub. I can’t wait to get started and give viewers across the country a place to come for all the UK news they need to know… with a little bit of fun, too.”

David Rhodes, Executive Chairman, Sky News, said: “Sarah-Jane combines her warmth and experience to lead audiences through coverage of UK news stories that matter. Her new programme online and on TV will highlight Sky News’ agenda-setting journalism from our home editor Jason Farrell and correspondents across the regions.

“It’s an exceptionally busy domestic news cycle and this doesn’t look set to slow down anytime soon. Viewers can rely on our journalism to give them the very best insight and analysis into what’s happening on their doorstep”.

Sarah-Jane has fronted Sky News afternoons for four years and previously was the host of Sunrise, Sky’s weekday breakfast show. During her time at Sky News, Sarah-Jane has covered a number of significant breaking news stories, including the Nottingham attacks earlier this summer. She has also delivered Sky News special programming, where she was on the ground for the Queen’s funeral and the King’s Coronation, as well as fronting Sky News’ reporting and phone-in on the NHS’s 75th anniversary.

Sky News is committed to covering stories from across the country to deliver the news that matters, including our investigation earlier this year into the soaring price of baby formula, the experience of women and girls taken into police custody in Greater Manchester as well as shining a light on how money moves through our political system with our Westminster accounts reports.
