WATCH THE CHRISTMAS ADVERT BELOW
Published: November 18, 2024 — Sky Cinema has launched its 2024 Christmas advert, “The Little Girl,” which celebrates the joy, power and timeless appeal of festive films. The new advert follows a young girl who finds inspiration – and a little courage – in the romance of Christmas movies to ask a boy to the cinema. The advert is part of Sky’s wider “Movies Make Christmas” campaign, which highlights the power of film to create connection and bring magic to the festive season.
The story begins with the girl helping her mother decorate the Christmas tree, while Elf plays in the background. She smiles as Buddy nervously asks his crush out, saying, “I feel really warm when I’m around you. So, do you wanna go and eat food?”.
Throughout the ad, she immerses herself in other Christmas classics. She’s seen lying on her bed with her dog as It’s a Wonderful Life plays, blushing as George Bailey promises, “I’ll give you the moon”. After a nativity play, she’s in the backseat of the car, mouthing along with Wonka, “Come… with me.”
Back at home, she overhears her parents watching The Holiday, as Amanda says, “I’m thinking I’ve got a date… if you’ll have me.” Each scene adds to her excitement, encouraging her to take a chance.
In the final scene outside the school gates, influencers LDN Family makes an appearance as the girl, holding a pair of free Vue Cinema tickets, gathers her courage. With light snow falling, she approaches the boy and says, “I… feel warm around you. I’d give you the moon. So, come… with me to the cinema. If you’ll have me?” She winks, Buddy-style, sealing the deal with a sweet “Son of a nutcracker!”.
Robin Garton, Group ECD Advertising, at Sky Creative, commented, “We’ve created a mini-Christmas Movie about Christmas movies. Narrative arc, protagonist, jeopardy, triumph – all the ingredients of great storytelling. It’s (back to) the stuff that made Christmas ads a thing in the first place.”
Alongside two free Vue cinema tickets a month, Sky Cinema customers get access to over 1,000 movies on demand, including a variety of festive favourites such as Elf, The Holiday, Love Actually and The Polar Express, as well as more of the latest blockbuster films than anywhere else, including Wonka, Dune 2 and Kung Fu Panda 4. Access to a mountain of entertainment on Paramount+, including new TV series and movies, is also included at no extra cost.
Carli Kerr, MD of Marketing at Sky and Now, said, “A great movie at Christmas is hard to beat, and we know how popular cinema going is over the festive period. With Sky Cinema, our customers can not only enjoy films at home this year, they can experience the newest releases with 2 free Vue cinema tickets that are included in their subscription. We wanted this advert to showcase this exclusive offering, while also celebrating the joy of watching movies together during the Christmas season.”
This Christmas, Sky Cinema is offering an exclusive Black Friday deal. From now until December 3, Sky customers can upgrade to Sky Cinema for just £9. Tune in to Sky Cinema and discover why “Movies Make Christmas” at www.sky.com/tv/cinema.
