RICHARD DAIGLE RELEASES NEW SINGLE "CAJUN PEOPLE," CELEBRATING THE SPIRIT OF HIS HERITAGE

CHATTANOOGA, TN – [November 25] – Americana singer-songwriter Richard Daigle announces the release of his newest single, Cajun People, a heartfelt tribute to the vibrant culture and resilient spirit of his Louisiana roots. This toe-tapping, accordion-infused track invites listeners to a lively party by the bayou, complete with good food, good music, and the unbreakable joie de vivre of the Cajun people.

Daigle’s creative process took an unexpected turn with Cajun People. “I usually write lyrics first and then the melody around the words, but in this case, I came up with a lively melody I loved and the lyrics sprung from that,” Daigle shares. “I wanted the song to convey the spirit of Cajun people—my people—who love good food, dance, and navigate the ups and downs of life with a positive outlook that’s as simple as it is strong.”

The track is made even more special by the late Chris Stafford’s masterful Cajun accordion playing. Stafford, a Grammy-nominated multi-instrumentalist and producer, contributed his exceptional talent shortly before his tragic passing in May 2024. Daigle reflects, “It was an honor to have Chris bring his magic to this song. His loss is a tragedy for the music world, and I hope this track serves as a small tribute to his incredible legacy.”

Born in New Orleans and raised on Louisiana’s rich cultural traditions, Daigle learned to peel crawfish and crack blue crab before he lost his baby teeth. His love for music was sparked early, thanks to his older brother, Lennet, who brought him to see The Beatles in Memphis in 1966. From there, he immersed himself in the classic rock scene of the 1970s at the legendary Warehouse in New Orleans, seeing such famous acts as The Allman Brothers, Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin and many others. Daigle’s path as a songwriter began later in life. Inspired by the wit and warmth of his musical hero and one time interview subject and dinner companion, John Prine, Daigle began writing songs in his late 50s. Following his retirement in 2018, he fully embraced his musical journey, playing open mics and then, founding and hosting the Chattanooga Song Circle “in the round” singer/songwriter series ,and performing across Chattanooga, Nashville, and Atlanta.

Through his music, Daigle captures the humor, heartache, and hope of life’s experiences, from the loss of his wife, Jan, to the challenges of senior dating. His lyrics reflect a deep connection to his family, culture, and passion for storytelling.

Cajun People is now available on all major streaming platforms. With its infectious rhythm and rich storytelling, the single promises to transport listeners straight to the heart of Louisiana’s bayous.
