July 26, 2024 – The 2024 Olympic Games begin in Paris from Friday 26 July, as the world’s biggest sporting event takes centre stage in the city of love.

Olympic Games Paris 2024 Opening Ceremony on TV, BBC iPlayer and BBC Sport Online
Clare Balding previews the next 16 days of incredible sporting action in France and introduces live coverage of a unique opening ceremony held along Paris’s main artery – the Seine, from 5.45pm on Friday 26 July.
More than 10,000 athletes across 329 events in 32 sports will be aiming to go faster, higher and stronger to fulfil their competitive dream. Before that, many of them will be paraded with their teammates on boats along a 6km route of the Seine. It forms part of a bold and original ceremony, which will reach its crescendo at the Trocadero against the majestic backdrop of the Eiffel Tower.
You can watch live from 5.45pm on BBC One, BBC iPlayer, BBC Sport Online and BBC Red Button. A signed version of the Opening Ceremony will be available on BBC Red Button 1 HD and BBC iPlayer.
