26 April 2024 – Multi-Platinum pop icons New Kids On The Block have celebrated the 35th anniversary of ‘NKOTB DAY’ with fans nationwide. The honorary day has been celebrated annually since April 24, 1989, when it was officially declared a holiday by former Massachusetts governor Michael Dukakis.
In celebration, the New Kids have also released a new ballad, ‘A Love Like This’, an ‘80’s-tinged ballad as a love letter from New Kids On The Block to their fans (aka Blockheads), and the special bond amongst the fandom. The track’s melody, guitar solo, and lyrical storytelling highlight the group’s mature sound which is seen throughout Still Kids, their first full-length album in 11 years, to be released May 17 via BMG.
“The song,’ A Love Like This’, is truly a love letter to our fans. We’ve written and recorded a song that speaks to the enduring, evolving, and magical relationship that we’ve shared over the past 35 years,” said Donnie Wahlberg of the new track. “There is no us without them, and certainly would be no ‘NKOTB Day’ without their unconditional love and support. This is our special way of giving back to them.”
On the new album, members Jonathan Knight, Jordan Knight, Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg and Danny Wood channel the New Kids’ beginnings, even as it pushes them into new territory as songwriters and as a band. The album features 14 new tracks including the lead single, ‘Kids’, and is full of pop anthems, dance tracks, love songs, and grooves that will become fast favorites for the Blockheads.
New Kids On The Block will celebrate the new album and classic hits with Blockheads across the country on their upcoming Magic Summer 2024 Tour, kicking off on June 14, with special guests Paula Abdul and DJ Jazzy Jeff.
