Marks Network’s First Demo Win For SOTU Coverage Across Cable & TV Since 2017, Up Double Digits Across the Board vs. 2023
NBC News NOW Delivers Strongest Day This Year and 4th Largest Primetime Audience on Record
March 8, 2024 – NBC News is the #1 most-watched network across network and cable TV in the key demos for coverage of President Biden’s 2024 State of the Union speech (9:26P-10:33P).
According to Nielsen, the network averages 1.178 million A25-54 viewers, leading all other networks. Among A18-49, NBC News averages 911,000 A18-49 viewers, also leading all other networks. In total viewers, NBC News averages 4.465 million viewers.
This marks NBC News’ first demo win across network and cable TV for State of the Union coverage since 2017, as the network is also up double digits across the board compared to coverage of the 2023 State of the Union, including +18% in total viewers, +17% in A25-54 and +16% in A18-49.
For State of the Union 2024, NBC News NOW marked its strongest day this year, surpassing its performance for Super Tuesday 2024 and growing more than +50% versus its prior 13-week average. NBC News NOW also marked its 4th largest primetime audience on record.
NBC News NOW’s coverage of State of the Union 2024 was ahead of State of the Union 2023 and peak concurrents were up 39% vs. 2023.
NBC News NOW kicked off State of the Union coverage at 8 p.m ET, anchored by NBC News NOW anchors Hallie Jackson and Tom Llamas. TODAY co-anchor Savannah Guthrie and NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt picked up coverage at 9 p.m. ET, simulcasting on NBC and NBC News NOW. Meet the Press moderator Kristen Welker anchored post-address analysis at 11 p.m. ET.
NBCNews.com also reached 4.6M unique visitors, ahead of 3.6M unique visitors for State of the Union 2023.
