FOX News Channel (FNC) has hired former U.S. Representative Allen West (R-FL) as a contributor, announced Bill Shine, Executive Vice President of Programming for the network. West will offer political commentary across various daytime and primetime programs.
In making the announcement, Shine said, “Representative West’s congressional and military experience along with his fearless approach to voicing key issues will provide a valuable point of view to the FOX News lineup.”
Currently, West is the Director of Next Generation TV Programming with PJ Media. Prior to that, West served as a Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives for Florida, representing the state’s 22nd congressional district, from January 2011 to January 2013. While a member of Congress, he served on the Armed Services and Small Business Committees. Additionally, West was a member of the Tea Party Caucus.
Before his political career, West served in the United States Army for 22 years, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. West earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee and his master’s degree from Kansas State University. He also holds a Master of Military Arts and Sciences from U.S. Army Command and General Staff Officer College.
