Series to Focus on American Revolution and Patriots
Bill O’Reilly Returns as Executive Producer
FOX News Channel (FNC) announced today the premiere date for season two of Legends & Lies. The historical episodic specials entitled Legends & Lies: The Patriots, will debut on Sunday, June 5th at 8PM/ET. Executive produced by FNC’s Bill O’Reilly, the hour long episodes will look at historical events and figures tied to the American Revolution and the founding of our country.
As underscored throughout Legends & Lies, news is the first draft of history. It is immediate and takes place in real time. Legends take longer to develop and are sometimes based on myth. This FNC series looks at the truth behind the legend, taking viewers through the events and people that represent the American Revolution, including the Boston Massacre and founding fathers Alexander Hamilton and George Washington, among others.
Episodes will feature historical reenactments, analysis and insights from historians and experts alike. The first nine installments will run during the summer with an additional three to air in December including a Christmas special on Washington’s crossing of the Delaware River.
The first installment of Legends & Lies, presented in 2015, looked at the stories behind the Wild West. The 10-week series boosted weekend ratings for FNC by nearly 50% in total viewers compared to the year prior and has been picked up for two additional seasons.
The series is produced by Warm Springs Productions, which is known for such programs as The History Channel’s Mountain Men, Animal Planet’s American River Renegades and HGTV’s Log Cabin Living. Legends & Lies is part of FNC’s weekend primetime programming overseen by Senior Executive Vice President of Programming, Bill Shine and procured in conjunction with Vice President of Development, John Finley.
