Every goal from every game – how to follow the Champions League on the BBC

“The BBC is going to be showing the best teams and players in the world this season.” — Alex Kay-Jelski, Director of BBC Sport

Date Published: September 18, 2024 — The Champions League is back and, for the first time ever, you can watch every goal from every game on the BBC.

Can Real Madrid – now with Kylian Mbappe – win again? Can Arsenal, Liverpool or Man City stop them? What will Aston Villa’s debut be like? Can Celtic defy expectations? Will Harry Kane and Bayern Munich land a trophy?

Find out with us across BBC iPlayer, TV, the BBC Sport website & app, BBC Sounds and 5 Live.

Watch the highlights from every match

From 10pm on Wednesday 18 September match highlights from every fixture that week are available on demand on BBC iPlayer and on the BBC Sport website, meaning fans can watch every goal from every game at the click of a button. Clips will drop every Wednesday of match weeks, as well as Thursday on weeks where games are scheduled across Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Then at 10.40pm on Wednesday 18 September MOTD: UEFA Champions League brings two footballing institutions together with insight, highlights and analysis of the week’s biggest issues.

The new show, available on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, is hosted by Mark Chapman and Gabby Logan, with Jason Mohammed also presenting during the first week.

They are joined by a line-up of experts who know the Champions League extensively, from playing in it to reporting on it. Former Manchester City and Celtic goalkeeper Joe Hart, former Arsenal player Theo Walcott, Villa, Bayern Munich and Stuttgart’s Thomas Hitzlsperger and former Manchester City captain Steph Houghton are all on punditry duties.

Alongside them are our analysts – Nedum Onuoha and Steve Warnock – whose job it will be to spot the tactical trends and hidden moments from the week. You’ll find them on your social channels, iPlayer, the website and the TV show.

And for the story behind the story, journalists Julien Laurens, Rory Smith, Guillem Balague and Nicky Bandini complete the line-up, bringing in-depth knowledge and the latest news.

The show is available every Wednesday of match weeks, as well as Thursday on weeks where games are scheduled across Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Listen to live commentary of the biggest games

Every Tuesday and Wednesday BBC Radio 5 Live’s commentary and unbeatable goals service will keep fans up to date via BBC Sounds and Champions League Final Score on BBC iPlayer. From 7pm audiences can watch Mark Chapman and Kelly Cates preview the night’s games alongside guests such as Theo Walcott, Joe Hart and Steph Houghton, with 5 Live’s match coverage accompanied by live graphics with the latest scores and tables.

5 Live and BBC Sounds will have commentary on the biggest games throughout the competition, led by the BBC’s Football correspondent John Murray, plus Ian Dennis, Alistair Bruce-Ball, Vicki Sparks, Chris Sutton, Izzy Christiansen and Pat Nevin.

The first week sees commentary on all four English clubs – Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Aston Villa – as well as regular updates on Celtic’s opening game against Slovan Bratislava.

Alex Kay-Jelski, Director of BBC Sport, says: “The BBC is going to be showing the best teams and players in the world this season. The ability to devour all the clips and goals on Wednesday nights and then see the big issues dissected and debated lifts our football coverage to a new level. And that backs up our brilliant 5 Live coverage of the matches themselves as they happen.

Our iPlayer and website first package is an exciting opportunity for audiences as they really have the freedom to watch the coverage however they choose.”
