July 26, 2024 —Daisy Press, the dynamic and innovative vocalist known for her contributions to experimental, pop, and classical music, is thrilled to announce the release of the single, “Rubor Sanguinis.” This enchanting track, an unusual arrangement of a 12th-century chant written by the sainted polymath Hildegard of Bingen, is now available on all streaming platforms.
“Rubor Sanguinis,” an evocative chant that Hildegard wrote for St.Ursula, unfolds like the vivid narrative of a Steven King horror story, with the stark and mystical image of copious amounts of blood from the martyr St. Ursula and her companions, flowing down from heaven. “You are the flower,” says Hildegard to Ursula, “who survives the winter of the serpent’s breath.”
Daisy Press’ interpretation of Hildegard’s chant is further enriched by the collaborative efforts of her long-term friend and co-arranger, Nick Hallett, who brings a brilliant harmonic structure to the piece with his Wurlitzer keyboard. Hallett’s chord progression infuses the chant with a beautiful pop sensibility and mesmerizing auditory experience, reminiscent of Joni Mitchell’s “Woodstock.”
Raised amidst the vibrant backdrop of an international rock and roll tour, Daisy Press brings a wealth of experience and passion to her music. She is known for her powerful and emotive performances in both the United States and Europe, where she has carved out a unique niche in modern European music.
