Channel 4 commissions new format from Crackit TV - Crime Scene Cleaners

Published: November 4, 2024 — Crackit TV has won a 10-part series commission from Channel 4 to produce revealing new format, Crime Scene Cleaners.

After a brutal assault, a murder, a burglary, or when a cannabis farm or a drugs den is busted, it isn’t the responsibility of the Emergency Services to clean up the mess. Homeowners and businesses instead turn to an elite group of highly accredited specialist experts to clean up the crime scene and hazardous mess left behind. The professionally accredited cleaners are the last to enter the crime scene and the first to hand the locations back to the public.

This 10×60” series follows some of the hardest-working crime scene cleaning companies in Britain and the USA that help people get their lives back to normal after the most traumatic events imaginable.

From dealing with the aftermath of murder, drug dens and arson attacks, crime scene cleaners are part hazardous material clean-up crews and part therapists, on-call 24/7 to some of the most horrific crime scenes and sometimes putting their own lives in danger – and they’re about to reveal all in this captivating new series.

Crackit’s cameras will explore the crimes that have been perpetrated from a unique point of view – the fall-out of the case, the clever cleaning techniques used by these specialist crews, the crimes behind the mess and the transformations undertaken – featuring criminal psychologists, police officers and forensic specialists who unpack the crime and analyse the scene.

All3Media International will be the international partner for Crime Scene Cleaners.

Rita Daniels, Commissioning Editor for Documentaries and Factual Entertainment at Channel 4, said: “Crime Scene Cleaners pulls back the curtain on the vital work of these unsung heroes. It’s not just about cleaning up – it’s about helping people rebuild after trauma. We’re excited to bring this unique and compelling series to Channel 4, showcasing the incredible dedication and expertise of these professionals.”

Elaine Hackett, CEO of Crackit TV, said:“This series offers rare access into the extraordinary lives of professional crime scene cleaners, who encounter people’s worst nightmares on a daily basis. We’re thrilled to be following these experts through dangerous and difficult situations and getting to know the incredible characters behind the hazmat suits.”

Rachel Job, SVP Unscripted at All3Media said: “It’s a pleasure to continue our fruitful working relationships with both Crackit TV and Channel 4 on this fantastic trans-Atlantic crime series. We’ve seen great success internationally with Crackit produced content and are delighted to help bring another great series to the international marketplace.”
