BMG has scored a viral hit with a prime placement in the third season of Netflix’s streaming sensation Bridgerton, a stripped-down cover of Pitbull’s ‘Give Me Everything’. Underscoring one of the most anticipated scenes of the season, the placement of the unique cover was facilitated by a collaboration of BMG’s Creative Synch team in the US, along with the BMG Production Music (BMGPM) team.
Since its May 16 release, the cover featured on Bridgerton’s official soundtrack has become a viral phenomenon across social media. The track, which scores the “carriage scene” in the show, has fans abuzz.
As a former music supervisor herself, Ali Pistoresi, Senior Director Creative Production BMGPM, very well knows the endless hunt for that nostalgic song that perfectly iterates a scene. “With modern neoclassical trending heavily in ads, film and TV, it was a great opportunity to source songs from BMG’s publishing repertoire and produce popular song reworks,” she said. She brought in superstar composer Archer Marsh to create a neo-classical album of BMG works, called Sequens. “‘Give Me Everything’ was such a natural choice to reimagine instrumentally.”
The album was then actively pitched by BMG Production Music and the Synch team with Bridgerton, Season 3 in mind, and proved to be a great success. “The team was thrilled to hear that not one, but three tracks made it into the show,” Pistoresi added.
“I think everyone was a little bit shocked that they were so in love with this Pitbull song cover for this sequence, of all things,” Bridgerton’s music supervisor Justin Kamps said. “But the song is amazing, and it has this great build to it, and that’s what the scene really needed. It needed this anticipation and then an explosion into the main chorus of the song as we see what’s happening on-screen.”
Amberly Crouse, VP Creative Licensing US – Production Music / Cover Music, said: “From the initial collaboration on conception to the group effort from both sides pitching to Netflix and then to the final win of synch licensing for the show and the soundtrack, it has been phenomenal. It shows what can happen when we all work collectively.”
Jonathan Palmer, SVP Creative Synch, added: “It’s amazing to see such an enthusiastic and viral response to a project which involved so many of our hard-working team members across departments and an important BMG copyright.”
