Following the announcement of BBC Creator Lab at the Edinburgh TV Festival in August, the application process is now open
BBC Creator Lab is a brand new talent scheme for Social Media Content Creators which will see the BBC, in collaboration with TikTok in the first year, select up to 100 social and digital creators with an interest in developing a career in television to take part in a 2 day development programme across the UK.
The programme will deliver a series of creative in-person sessions across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland that will give creators the tools to boost their social and TV career.
Also announced today are the specific areas of the BBC that will be participating in the scheme.
In the first year, creators who show interest and can demonstrate a social/digital track record in the following areas are encouraged to apply:
Football and Sport
Football enthusiasts, presenters and sports lovers to explore the beautiful game and front must-see videos for the BBC’s digital football coverage.
UK Nature
We are looking for experts and enthusiasts for BBC Springwatch
Cooking and Mixology
Cooking creators, food enthusiasts and mixologists for BBC One’s Morning Live and Saturday Kitchen.
Entertainment
Aspiring presenters, entertainers and quick witted people who love interviewing and being in front of the camera, to create digital/social content around the Eurovision Song Contest 2024.
Children’s
There are opportunities for film and guest presentation slots on the BBC Children’s shows Blue Peter, Saturday Mash Up Live! and presentation opportunities.
Fiona Campbell, Controller Youth Audience (iPlayer and BBC Three) says: “The creator community in the UK is amongst the best in the world and we are excited to be opening the application process today and seeing the creative ideas that will be generated for some of our biggest and best loved BBC brands.”
The application process is open to social and digital creators that meet the following criteria:
• Have a social presence across any of TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook & Snapchat
• Can demonstrate on-screen experience i.e often feature on social video content
• Aged over 18 years old
• Based in the UK, with the right to work
• Have a) over 50k following on a social media platform and/or b) developed, created and published at least two videos that have reached over 350k views
• Made a positive creative or innovative impact across social platforms
