ABC NEWS’ ‘NIGHTLINE’ RANKS NO. 1 IN TOTAL VIEWERS FOR 13TH CONSECUTIVE WEEK
‘Nightline’ Takes Top Spot in Total Viewers and Adults 25-54 Against CBS’ ‘Comics Unleashed’ and NBC’s ‘Late Night with Seth Meyers’ for 2nd Straight Week
Season to Date, ‘Nightline’ Is Growing in All Key Demos and Scores Largest Overall Audience in 4 Years
For the First Time in 10 Years, ‘Nightline’ Is No. 1 in Total Viewers and Adults 25-54 Versus CBS and NBC
ABC News’ “Nightline” ranked No. 1 in Total Viewers (860,000) and Adults 25-54 (200,000) for the week of Dec. 12, 2023, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. “Nightline” took the top spot in leading CBS’ “Comics Unleashed” and NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” in both measures for the 2nd straight week. Further, “Nightline” ranked No. 1 in Total Viewers for the 13th consecutive week.
“Nightline” saw increases on the previous week in Total Viewers (+2% – 860,000 vs. 846,000), Adults 25-54 (+6% – 200,000 vs. 190,000) and Adults 18-49 (+5% – 125,000 vs. 118,000).
“Nightline” was up year to year in Adults 25-54 (+1% – 200,000 vs. 198,000).
Season to date, and for the first time ever in the 10 years in its time period, “Nightline” ranks No. 1 in Total Viewers and Adults 25-54 versus CBS and NBC. In addition, “Nightline” is growing versus the comparable weeks last season in Total Viewers (+9% – 981,000 vs. 898,000), Adults 25-54 (+10% – 244,000 vs. 221,000) and Adults 18-49 (+4% – 162,000 vs. 156,000), posting its largest overall audience in 4 years – since the 2019-2020 season.
This week, “Nightline” covered ABC News anchor Diane Sawyer’s and senior congressional correspondent Rachel Scott’s report for “Impact x Nightline” on the dire impact of new healthcare restrictions on pregnant women; ABC News Live “Prime” anchor Linsey Davis’ interview with Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley; the house Republicans’ vote to formally begin an impeachment inquiry into President Biden; how Biden’s handling of Israel-Hamas war is raising concerns among U.S. Muslims; Rudy Giuliani being ordered to pay nearly $150 million to election workers; Disney celebrating its 100th year anniversary; the rise of holiday-themed slasher flicks; Disney Channel Original Movies nostalgia; the “Wonka” cast on bringing world of young Willy Wonka to life and more.
