‘Dateline’ Continues to Dominate Podcast Charts, with Multiple Original Series Ranking as Apple’s Most-Popular Shows of the Year
Nov. 26, 2024 – Dateline will release an all-new original true-crime podcast series, Deadly Mirage, on Tuesday, December 3. Reported by correspondent Josh Mankiewicz, the six-part series examines how the murder of a California father unearthed deep secrets about sex, friendship, and religion that shattered carefully crafted illusions.

The first two episodes will be available for download and streaming across major podcast platforms starting on Tuesday, December 3, followed by two episodes per week in the subsequent weeks. Last week, Apple Podcasts ranked Dateline’s Mortal Sin and Murder in the Hollywood Hills on its 2024 Top New Shows list. Dateline’s showcast was also crowned Apple’s 4th most-popular podcast of 2024, delivering more than 240 million total downloads so far this year.
Deadly Mirage marks Mankiewicz’s fifth original Dateline podcast, after previously reporting top-charting series including Motive for Murder, Mortal Sin and Dateline: Missing in America.
For Deadly Mirage: Tim Beacham serves as producer with Carson Cummins as associate producer. Adam Gorfain is co-executive producer, Paul Ryan is the executive producer and Liz Cole is the senior executive producer of Dateline.
