September 10- Singer-songwriter Jackie Minton is proud to announce the release of her highly anticipated new album, Sagesse, a project inspired by the rich themes of wisdom found in ancient literature. The album, featuring seven thoughtfully crafted tracks, is set to be released in November 2024. While the album is in English, its title comes from the French word for “wisdom,” reflecting Minton’s evolving artistic journey and her experiences living abroad.
In Sagesse, Minton bridges the gap between the sacred and the secular, exploring deep questions about life, love, and the human heart. Inspired by the seven books of wisdom, the album’s tracks are not strictly spiritual but delve into timeless, universal themes. Each song evokes a connection to both past and present, offering a contemplative space where listeners are invited to reflect and engage with the depth of the human experience.
“My new album Sagesse is about the breadth, width, and depth of the human heart,” says Minton. “While it draws on themes from ancient literature, it speaks to all of us and asks if there was ever a real distance between the sacred and the secular. It’s a project that dares to blend these spaces.”
Born in Texas, Minton began her musical journey at a young age, learning both guitar and piano, and writing songs that resonate deeply with her audience. Her 2016 debut EP Searching for Now captured global attention, and after five years of travel and study, she found herself in Nashville, Tennessee. There, she crowdfunded and released her full-length album Earnest Voice in 2021. The album’s success caught the attention of international artist Dermot Kennedy, who invited Minton to open for a stop on his 2022 US tour.
The release of singles like “Understand” from Sagesse continues to demonstrate Minton’s ability to push boundaries in folk and acoustic music. Her sound carries the influence of timeless storytelling while remaining fresh and original, solidifying her place in the contemporary music scene.
With Sagesse, Jackie Minton offers a follow-up to her 2023 EP Genesis, further expanding on its themes of growth, reflection, and the complexities of the human condition. As she continues her journey, this latest project serves as a testament to her ever-evolving artistry.
