08 MARCH 2024 (TORONTO, ON) – Canadian pop diva Jeanick Fournier, winner of Canada’s Got Talent 2022, releases her new single “Tous ces doutes” today with Nashville-based singer-songwriter MORGXN via Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company, marking her first new music of 2024. A bilingual interpolation of MORGXN’s hit 2020 single “WONDER,” this is the first collaboration between Jeanick Fournier and MORGXN.
The bilingual recording includes lyrics in English and French, written by Go Gary (Rihanna, Chiiild, Aloe Blacc), MORGXN, Austin Taylor Zudeck, Justin Dean Thunstrom, and Amélie Larocque, and produced by Milano (Icona Pop, LAVI$H). The song is about disconnecting from anything that keeps you from becoming your best self, releasing all doubts, and shooting for the stars. The lyrics directly speak to Jeanick Fournier’s individual journey to stardom, never giving up and winning Canada’s Got Talent at 49-years-old.
“The lyrics resonate with me so much,” says Jeanick Fournier, “and what can I say about meeting this talented, passionate, and kind artist MORGXN… A perfect mix! I hope you all love this song for a long time.”
“This is a song I wrote when I thought very deeply that I would have to quit music altogether,” says MORGXN. “To see what the song has become continues to be one of the greatest gifts in my life. There is no artist that doesn’t understand the doubt that comes with this lifestyle. I love Jeanick’s story and loved that she resonated so much with the message of the song. It is a true honour to get to sing this new version with her and to show any human that doubts… they are not alone.”
Beginning the song with existential questions about where she belongs, Jeanick Fournier sings in French, “What does the life we lead mean? I no longer know what is worth it,” before duetting with MORGXN in the chorus. “I wonder if anyone will hear this. I wonder if I’ll ever be fearless. I wonder if I’ll end up alone. Don’t know where I’m going,” they sing together.
“Tous ces doutes” arrives weeks after the conclusion of Jeanick Fournier’s latest cross-country tour, visiting various cities across Québec and Ontario and highlighting fan-favourites from her most recent full-length album Vivante. She released the deluxe edition of Vivante late last year including the song “Ma raison de vivre,” which was co-written with television personality and host of Ouvre ton jeu, Marie-Claude Barrette. The standard edition of Vivante was released in May 2023, earning Fournier her first-ever Félix award nominations at the 2023 ADISQ Gala for Adult Contemporary Album of the Year and Breakthrough Artist of the Year.
Continuing to enjoy major success in Québec and across Canada, Jeanick Fournier’s 2022 self-titled album peaked at #1 in Québec and #13 on the Billboard Canadian Albums chart. Her follow-up album, Vivante, reached #2 in Québec. Various singles from the two albums have triumphed at Canadian radio with “Ça ira” peaking at #25 and “Dans la peau” reaching #51.
Stay tuned for more new music and exciting announcements from the pop diva in the coming weeks.
