ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J., January 10, 2024 – As part of its mission to educate and inform, CNBC, First in Business Worldwide, today announced the launch of Smarter by CNBC Make It, a new online course venture developed by the editorial team behind CNBC Make It, a leading financial wellness site that teaches users how to get smarter about how they earn, save and spend their money with a focus on success, money, work and life. The first paid course, How to Ace Your Job Interview, gives people a leg up on the competition by pulling back the curtain on the hiring process and showing users how to excel at their job interview.
Job seekers universally are looking for a great, high-paying job that’s the right fit for them. But with countless job openings to filter through, resume lines to edit, cover letters to draft, and interviews to prepare for, the hunt can be overwhelming. On top of that, employers are demanding more specialized skills and experience, leaving people feeling uncertain about their qualifications among the fierce competition.
Hosted by CNBC Make It Senior Work Editor Hanna Howard, Smarter by CNBC Make It’s introductory course acts as a step-by-step guide for users as they navigate the job search and interview process, providing actionable tips and insights along the way. Users across the globe will get access to 100 minutes of instructional video content, broken up into snackable five-minute lessons and organized around getting the interview, nailing it, and following up. The course also comes with a companion workbook that includes exercises to help prepare.
Qualtrics Chief Workplace Psychologist Benjamin Granger, career educator and TikTok star Erin McGoff (@advicewitherin) and tech recruiter Jermaine Murray (@TheJobfather_) serve as instructors for the video series, offering users tactical advice that can be implemented to help sharpen skills, build confidence and ultimately ace the interview – from learning what hiring managers are looking for and mastering the cover letter and resume, to answering tricky interview questions and owning the pay conversation.
“Finding a job can be stressful. With Smarter by CNBC Make It’s How to Ace Your Job Interview course, we want to help simplify the process,” said Jenna Goudreau, Vice President and Executive Editor of CNBC Make It. “Whether you are brand new to the workforce, in between jobs, making a career change, or ready to take the next step in your current field, our course gives you the tools you need to feel more confident about not only finding the job you want, but getting the job you want in an uncomplicated way.”
