FOX NEWS CHANNEL NAMES TOM LOWELL VICE PRESIDENT AND MANAGING EDITOR OF NEWS

FOX NEWS DIGITAL ENDS 2022 AS THE TOP NEWS BRAND WITH MULTIPLATFORM VIEWS AND MINUTES 

FOX News Channel (FNC) has appointed Tom Lowell, executive producer of The Kelly File, vice president and managing editor of news, announced Jay Wallace, executive vice president of news and editorial for the network, to whom he will report. In this new position, Lowell will manage all national and international correspondents and enterprise investigative reporting across FNC’s television and digital platforms. He will begin his new role on January 1, 2017 and a replacement executive producer for The Kelly File will be named in the new year.

In making the announcement, Wallace said “Tom’s skillful producing and managing of The Kelly File has been a tremendous asset to our primetime programming. With more than two decades of experience in journalism, that expertise will now play a pivotal role in bringing together all of our news operations as we design and build our new newsroom.”

Lowell added, “There are so many great things coming together that will help us ramp up our breaking news advantage, as well as our original reporting. I am thrilled for the opportunity to work with our great management team and talented staff to deliver even more improvements to America’s most trusted and watched news organization.”

Since joining the network in 2003, Lowell has launched three top-rated programs and held a variety of production roles. He began as a producer for FOX News Live and was later promoted to senior producer in 2005. In 2007, Lowell launched America’s Newsroom (weekdays 9-11AM/ET) with co-anchors Bill Hemmer and Megyn Kelly, where he became the executive producer in 2009.

One year later, he launched America Live with Megyn Kelly and executive produced the program for three years until launching The Kelly File in primetime in October 2013. This year, Lowell oversaw the The Kelly File as it achieved its highest-rated year since launch with 2.7 million viewers and 518,000 Adults 25-54 and remains the second most watched program in cable news.

Prior to joining FNC, Lowell held executive producer positions at WFSB-TV (CBS) in Hartford, CT, WCVB-TV (ABC) in Boston, MA and FOX affiliate WSVN-TV in Miami, FL. He also served as news director at WSEE-TV in Erie, PA where he began his career in 1992 as a news producer. He graduated from Emerson College with a B.A. in broadcast journalism.
