FNC Tops Cable News in Total Day and Primetime for 187 Months in a Row
FNC Outpaces All of Basic Cable Primetime for Month of July
For the month of July, FOX News Channel (FNC) topped all of cable for the 13th consecutive month in total day, delivering 1.3 million viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research. Additionally, FNC averaged 2.1 million viewers in primetime, notching five of the past seven months as the top cable network in primetime. FNC has also been the most-watched cable news network in total day and primetime for 187 consecutive months.
Additionally, FNC continues to top CNN and MSNBC in total day and primetime with both P2+ and Adults 25-54. In primetime, FNC averaged 2,116,000 beating CNN’s 892,000 and MSNBC’s 1,730,000 in total viewers. With Adults 25-54, FNC garnered 407,000 topping CNN’s 296,000 and MSNBC’s 388,000. In total day, FNC averaged 1,320,000 in total viewers, dominating CNN’s 674,000 and MSNBC’s 926,000. In the 25-54 demo, FNC averaged 279,000 and ranked ahead of CNN with 216,000 and MSNBC with 210,000. Also, for 2017 to date, FNC’s A25-54 audience is up 17% in total day and up 7% in primetime versus 2016.
Kicking off daytime programming, FOX & Friends delivered 1.5 million total viewers and 333,000 in the A25-54 demographic. The network’s signature morning program is on pace to have its highest-rated year in network history. At 9AM/ET, America’s Newsroom continues its reign as the most-watched cable news program in its timeslot, garnering 1.7 million total total viewers and 333,000 in A25-54. Happening Now, beginning at 11AM/ET, garnered 1.3 million total viewers and 275,000 in A25-54. FNC’s afternoon ensemble program, Outnumbered (12PM/ET), averaged 1.5 million total viewers and 297,000 in A25-54. At 3PM/ET, Shepard Smith Reporting delivered 1.4 million total viewers and 259,000 in the A25-54 demographic. During the 4PM/ET hour, Your World with Neil Cavuto averaged 1.4 million total viewers and 259,000 in A25-54. FNC’s brand new roundtable show, The FOX News Specialists, delivered 1.7 million total viewers and 303,000 in A25-54.
Among FNC’s early evening and primetime programming, FNC’s Special Report with Bret Baier (6PM/ET) garnered 2 million total viewers and 361,000 in the A25-54 demographic. At 7PM/ET, The Story with Martha MacCallum averaged 1.8 million viewers and 351,000 in A25-54. During the 8PM/ET hour, FNC’s highest-rated cable news program, Tucker Carlson Tonight delivered 2.5 million total viewers and 465,000 in the A25-54 demographic with females making up 48% (the preceding program’s audience was composed of 45% females) of the viewership. FNC’s hit ensemble program, The Five, garnered 2.3 million viewers and 443,000 in A25-54 at 9PM/ET. During the 10PM/ET, Hannity averages 2.4 million total viewers and 496,000 in A25-54.
