“I’m just so happy. This is like one of the best things that has ever happened to me. I haven’t won anything in years and now I’ve won MasterChef at Christmas, which is one of the biggest accolades you could get. So I’m just truly, truly buzzing and so thankful. I’m a bit emotional!” — Duncan James

Singer, Duncan James, has been named Celebrity MasterChef Christmas Champion 2023 in tonight’s Celebrity MasterChef Christmas Cook-Off by judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace.
On his win, Duncan says: “I’m just so happy. This is like one of the best things that has ever happened to me. I haven’t won anything in years and now I’ve won MasterChef at Christmas, which is one of the biggest accolades you could get. So I’m just truly, truly buzzing and so thankful. I’m a bit emotional!”
MasterChef judge John Torode says: “Duncan’s food was elegant, sophisticated and captured the flavours and spirit of Christmas.”
MasterChef judge Gregg Wallace added: “Today he showcased skills that I would normally associate with a professional chef. And that’s why Duncan is our champion.”
Duncan’s winning menu started with a turkey roulade Wellington – a rolled up escalope of turkey, filled with stuffing and cranberries, and wrapped in Parma ham and puff pastry, served with roasted carrots, parsnips and sprouts and a red wine sauce.
John said of his presentation: “That looks amazing, proper ‘chefdom’.” And upon tasting said: “Duncan, next year, I’m coming to your place for Christmas.” While Gregg told him: “That is stunning. I’m not kidding you when I say I would expect to find food of this quality in a really good restaurant.”
Duncan’s dessert was a spiced sticky toffee pudding with brandy-soaked dates and a sticky toffee sauce, served with clotted cream and berries.
