In one of the biggest TV nights of the year in the UK, Kylie Minogue starred in a special edition of ITV’s An Audience With… format to give a dramatic demonstration of her renaissance with BMG.
Around 70 BMG guests and staff formed part of the celebrity-filled audience at the sell-out 5,000-capacity Royal Albert Hall.
BMG President Repertoire & Marketing UK Alistair Norbury said, “It was truly incredible. The production and slickness of the show was unbelievable.”
The greatest hits set opened with the title track from Kylie’s latest BMG-released album Tension, and finished with what became the single of summer 2023 ‘Padam Padam’. In between songs, Kylie answered questions from celebrities in the audience.
“What was really striking was the relationship between artist and audience,” said Norbury. “Kylie is so loved in the UK. With this show you could see that she has achieved the status of national treasure.”
The show comes five years after Kylie joined BMG. Since then, over three albums BMG has worked with Kylie to connect with a streaming age audience.
“This is textbook BMG,” said Norbury, “working hand-in-hand with a great artist and exceptional management to really help them achieve their career goals. Kylie is in a very good place.”
Critics gave the show their seal of approval, with Rolling Stone UK declaring, “Pop icon has us in the palm of her hand…Kylie shows why she still reigns supreme at the top of pop.” The Guardian described the show as “fabulously extravagant”, concluding “It is impossible to resist these hits. Padam!”. And Attitude said it offered “a masterclass in stage performance”.
ITV’s An Audience With… format first started in 1978. Kylie was the 56th subject in its history and the first since Adele in 2021. Previous subjects have included Neil Diamond, Celine Dion, Jackie Mason, Diana Ross, and boxer Lennox Lewis.
