11.6 million watch FA Cup third round thrillers on the BBC

The two most successful sides in FA Cup history came face-to-face in the third round on BBC One

Publishsed: January 13, 2025 — The two most successful sides in FA Cup history came face to face in the third round on BBC One on Sunday evening, with a peak of 7.4 million tuning in to watch 10-man Manchester United knock out Arsenal on penalties, an audience share of 41.1%.

A peak audience of 3.2 million also tuned in to watch Manchester City beat Salford City on BBC One on Saturday, contributing towards a total reach of 11.6 million for the FA Cup third round on BBC TV.

Across the weekend, there were 10.5 million iPlayer requests for FA Cup coverage, 4.3 million of which were for Arsenal and Manchester United’s thrilling match, culminating in extra time and penalties.
