Originally written in the summer of 1996 under the title “The X-mas Blues,” the song was first released on Yvonne’s 1997 album Thrills, with revised lyrics and a new title, “Hopper Blues,” inspired by Edward Hopper’s iconic painting Nighthawks. In 2000, the track returned to its Christmas roots as part of Yvonne’s acclaimed holiday album Songs for Christmas, a collaborative project with pianist Harry Happel that showcased her soulful interpretations and original compositions.

Now, 24 years later, “A Blue Xmas” has been remastered, preserving its timeless appeal while highlighting Yvonne Walter’s unique ability to blend classic jazz elements with her unparalleled vocal artistry.
