The Washington Post’s Audio Department has been nominated by The Podcast Academy (TPA), the preeminent professional podcast organization, for three Awards for Excellence in Audio (The Ambies).
Nominations include The Post’s groundbreaking audio investigative series “The Empty Grave of Comrade Bishop” for “Podcast of the Year,” its flagship daily news show “Post Reports” for “Best Politics or Opinion Podcast”, and journalist Martine Powers for “Best Podcast Host.”
“The Empty Grave of Comrade Bishop,” hosted by Powers, is the product of a two-year investigation led by Powers and colleagues Ted Muldoon and Rennie Svirnovskiy. The series shows that the U.S. government played a larger role than previously reported in a Cold War mystery around the missing remains of a Caribbean leader.
The Post’s flagship series “Post Reports,” for which Martine also serves as co-host alongside media reporter Elahe Izadi, publishes every weekday afternoon as a deeper look behind the headlines.
“We are thrilled to earn these nominations, as we consistently seek to produce podcasts that resonate with audiences,” said Renita Jablonski, Director of Audio for The Washington Post. “The throughline of these projects is our team’s unwavering dedication to their craft and commitment to bring journalism to life for our listeners.”
“The Empty Grave of Comrade Bishop” and “Post Reports” are available across podcast platforms. Washington Post subscribers get premium audio benefits, like ad-free listening and early release episodes, in Apple Podcasts.
