USA TODAY NETWORK Ventures Announces 2023 High School Sports Awards Show

National show celebrates elite high school athletes, coaches and teams across the country

Gannett Co., Inc. (NYSE: GCI) announced today the 2023 USA TODAY High School Sports Awards national show, debuting a new podcast-style talk show format. The national show premiers on Sunday, July 30 at 8 p.m. ET on the USA TODAY High School Sports Awards website. USA TODAY High School Sports Awards, the largest high school sports recognition program in the country, honors the top athletic accomplishments of over 40 athletes in 18 sports categories – baseball, softball, track & field, volleyball, lacrosse, field hockey, cross country, golf, bowling, soccer, hockey, gymnastics, wrestling, basketball, football, flag football, swimming & diving and tennis. National nominees are selected through statistical analysis, game coverage and coach and athletic director feedback.    
 
This year’s show brings together sports experts across the USA TODAY Network including USA TODAY Sports Columnist Christine Brennan, who serves as emcee alongside co-hosts Ryan O’Leary, USA TODAY Ventures Content Manager, Barrett Fontana, USA TODAY Ventures Content and Athlete Operations Specialist and Cydney Henderson, USA TODAY Sports NOW Reporter.  
 
Over the years we’ve had the honor of recognizing elite high school athletes and this year’s class doesn’t disappoint,” said Jason Taylor, Head of USA TODAY NETWORK Ventures. “We are excited to share this new show format highlighting our very own distinguished Sports experts to spotlight incredible high school athletes, coaches and their teams. The program not only recognizes and awards the top performers in high school athletics, but also tells the stories that happen on and off the field of resilience, courage and perseverance. 
 
The USA TODAY High School Sports Awards program also highlights the most inspiring stories in high school sports, including the Special Olympics and Courage Awards, as well as recognizes the outstanding coaches of the year in addition to Girls and Boys Athlete of the Year and Girls and Boys Teams of the Year.  
 
The show will also be available on the USA TODAY Sports YouTube Channel, and the USA TODAY channel streaming on multiple platforms online, from your smartphone or TV, including XUMO, The Roku Channel, Amazon News, Tubi and Samsung TV Plus.
