Local Now is expanding its presence for DISH Hopper subscribers, bringing viewers an even easier way to get local information straight from their communities on demand.

Powered by The Weather Channel and content partners, Local Now delivers real-time, localised information about current events, weather, lifestyle, sports, business, traffic, entertainment and more. A sampling of Local Now’s partners include Reuters, Associated Press, Thrillist, Curbed, Yelp, Cheddar, Vox and more.

Viewers will have the opportunity to take advantage of Local Now’s offerings on DISH Hopper, including all associated Joey and Wally devices. Local Now, now available on DISH Hopper Channel 213, allows viewers to stream news from their current location, in addition to having the option to navigate through any of the more than 225 locations available on Local Now. Severe weather notifications will also be available for viewers’ current locations.

“We’re excited to expand Local Now’s presence on DISH to help build new ways for modern audiences to get local information, straight from their communities,” said Byron Allen, Founder/Chairman/CEO of Entertainment Studios, which owns The Weather Channel television network and Local Now. “Now, even more viewers will be able to consume localised information about their communities through the Hopper platform.”

Local Now’s audience has consumed over 1.5 billion minutes of Local Now content since its launch in 2016. Local Now minutes are currently pacing 96% ahead of where the product was this time last year. Local Now’s minutes per viewer consistently ranks in the top 10 out of more than 300 properties in the Digital News and Information category in comScore’s Media Metrix Report.

Local Now is available across a portfolio of OTT, Mobile and TV platforms and partners, including DISH, Altice, YouTube TV, Sling TV, Xumo, MobiTV, fuboTV, Plex, iOS, Apple TV, Android, Roku and Amazon Fire TV.
