Following its highly popular inaugural season, “La Gran Sorpresa” (“The Great Surprise”) returns this Friday, January 11th, at 8 p.m. ET/PT (7 p.m. CT) on UniMás.

Award-winning television host Poncho de Anda and Univision’s “El Gordo y La Flaca” personality Clarissa Molina will present the second season of “La Gran Sorpresa” aboard ships from Carnival Cruise Line, Princess Cruises and Holland America Line – three of Carnival Corporation’s nine global cruise line brands.

Each one-hour episode of “La Gran Sorpresa” uses the power of travel to reunite families as they overcome hardships created by illness, separation and other challenges. For the new season, the series surprises several families as they sail to popular destinations including Ketchikan, Alaska; San Juan, Puerto Rico; Barcelona, Spain; and Monte Carlo.

The first episode features Amneris Lopez, a pediatric oncology nurse from San Juan, Puerto Rico who lost everything to Hurricane Maria. Without a job, she had to move with her husband and son to Tennessee. However, due to financial constraints and the language barrier, Amneris has not been able to obtain her license to practice nursing in her new community. “La Gran Sorpresa” will give her another opportunity and will change her life forever aboard Carnival Fascination cruise ship.
