S4C Receives Nine Nominations at the RTS Cymru Awards


S4C has received nine RTS Cymru Awards nominations this year, it has been announced, with three nominations in the factual category.

Three of the channel’s factual programmes have claimed their place in the Best Factual Programme category – Y Byd ar Bedwar (ITV Cymru), Newid Hinsawdd, Newid Byd (Tinopolis Cymru for S4C) and Ein Byd (ITV Cymru).

In the Best Children’s Programme category are two of the channel’s most popular programmes amongst younger viewers; Deian a Loli (Cwmni Da), a series about mischievous twins and their magical powers, and Project Z (Boom Cymru), a quiz show set in a world where zombies roam the earth, it features a combination of roleplay and escape room-style problem solving.

The witty and dark drama series Merched Parchus (Ie Ie) has been nominated for Best Drama, and Mari Beard and Hannah Jarman, who both wrote and acted in the drama have been nominated in the Breakthrough category.

Also nominated for Best Drama is the poignant drama series, Pili Pala (Triongl), about a tough medical decision and the affect it has on two women and their families.

Nominated for the best factual programme is Priodas Pum Mil (Boom Cymru), a series where presenters Emma Walford and Trystan Elis Morris follow couples who are getting married as their family and friends try to arrange the wedding for £5,000.

The winners will be announced in a ceremony presented on Thursday 27 February in Cineworld Cardiff. Awards will also honour long-standing students and S4C will sponsor the short-form award.
