Network 10’s, Have You Been Paying Attention?, MasterChef Australia, The Living Room and Gogglebox Australia have all won awards at this year’s Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) Awards.
MasterChef Australia took out the win for Best Reality Program.
MasterChef Australia judge, Melissa Leong, said: “We are blown away by the reception we’ve been given as the new guard. With this year has come an avalanche of the unexpected, which makes us even more grateful for how warmly the MasterChef Australia audience has welcomed us into their homes. We feel most fortunate to continue to celebrate great food, people and stories on this most magical of shows”.
Australia’s premiere cooking show returned to our screens this year for an incredible 12th season, with a trio of newly acclaimed judges, Jock Zonfrillo, Andy Allen and Melissa Leong at the helm.
The highly-anticipated MasterChef Australia: Back To Win also returned with 24 talented and passionate former contestants taking to the MasterChef kitchen for the biggest opportunity of their lives – to claim the trophy that eluded them once before.
The Living Room won Best Lifestyle Program.
The Living Room host Miguel Maestre said: “We are so thrilled to have won this AACTA Award! We’ve had such a fantastic year getting out of our comfort zone and being able to meet and help so many Australians throughout such a hard year.
“We’ve been so inspired by Australia’s resilience and generosity, and we are honoured to be taking this award home”.
The Living Room returned to our screens earlier this year with a fresh-new look and a brand-new home, out in the real world. Amanda, Chris, Barry and Miguel stepped in to help everyday Australians who could benefit from a little TLC, with genuine warmth and a lot of laughs along the way. In what was an extremely challenging year, it’s no wonder The Living Room resonated with so many Australians.
A show that has a failsafe cure for Mondayitis, Have You Been Paying Attention? won Best Entertainment Program and Gogglebox Australia won Best Factual Entertainment Program.
The AACTA Awards are held in recognition and celebration of Australia’s highest achievements in film and television.
Network 10 received 12 nominations across their 2020 programming line-up including Australian Survivor: All Stars, The Amazing Race Australia, The Project, The Secret She Keeps, Drunk History Australia, Lindy Chamberlain: The True Story, Ambulance Australia and I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! Australia.
