True North builds on 'Help! We Bought A…' brand with Channel 4

Following on from the success of Help! We Bought A Village, Channel 4 and True North are excited to announce the expansion of the Help! franchise. Over 20 episodes Help! We Bought A Village captured the imagination of the British public, as more and more Brits are quitting their jobs, selling their homes, and following their lifelong dreams to take on the challenge of a lifetime. Series two of Help! We Bought A Village returns for a second 30-part series later this year. Channel 4 have also ordered two spin-off series, Help! We Bought A Jungle and Help! We Bought A Hotel.

Help! We Bought a Jungle follows one passionate couple who take on the project of a lifetime, transforming a patch of jungle paradise into the ultimate dream home and business. The couple, Patrick and Lindsay, have bought a patch of jungle in the Seychelles, and have ambitious plans to turn it into a two-bedroom home for themselves, and two luxury cottages for guests. The series will capture their attempts to build a fully sustainable, off-grid, oasis, battling against 40-degree heat, tropical storms, and power outages. The 4-part series will TX on Channel 4 in 2024, with a second series to follow in 2025.

Help! We Bought a Hotel follows contributors in various stages of development of their hotel businesses across the UK and Europe. The series will see these couples buy, build, restore, and transform incredible properties and attempt to turn them into thriving hotel businesses. The six-part series will TX on More4 in 2024.

Julie Beanland, Creative Director at True North said, “This is fantastic news for everyone on the True North team who’ve worked so hard to make a success of the Help! programmes so far. It is also a huge vote of confidence from Channel 4 in both the Help! franchise and in regional production as we continue to showcase more fantastic contributors following their dreams.

Jayne Stanger, who commissioned the shows for Channel 4 said, “We are delighted to have recommissioned True North to make a second series of the brilliant Help! I Bought A Village, and to have further expanded the franchise, capturing more incredible stories of people chasing their property renovation dreams.”

The programmes were commissioned for Channel 4 and More 4 by Jayne Stanger, Commissioning Editor for Daytime & Features, with Head of Daytime & Features Jo Street. For True North Piero Sfreddo is Executive Producer with Julie Beanland, True North’s Creative Director, and Leanne Thompson as Line Producer.
