The Washington Post Named a Finalist in Two Categories of NICHM Awards

Today, the National Institute for Health Care Management (NIHCM) Foundation named The Washington Post a finalist for its 2024 NIHCM awards in both the Investigative and General Reporting category and the Data-Driven Storytelling category. The NIHCM Awards annual awards “recognize the tremendous contributions of researchers and journalists who brought to life new evidence that advances the health system and the health of Americans.” The Human Limit series, an exploration of the insidious threat that climate change poses to human health, is recognized in the Data-Driven Storytelling category. Well+Being Columnist Richard Sima’s reporting, “A catatonic woman awakened after 20 years. Her story may change psychiatry,” is a finalist in the Investigative and General Reporting category. This honor is the latest for Sima’s reporting, which was also named “Best of 2023” by LongReads.

The foundation’s panel of judges selected 42 finalists from 460 entries. The winners will be announced in April.
