Sunday’s premiere episode of The Walking Dead: Dead City is the #1 season premiere in the history of AMC+ in terms of viewership across all new and returning series, including The Walking Dead. In linear viewership, the first episode of the new series attracted a total premiere audience of 2 million viewers, including 768k adults 25-54 and 573k adults 18-49 in Nielsen live+3 ratings. The linear ratings reflect total viewership of a multi-network simulcast and Sunday night encores on AMC.
The 9 p.m. premiere airing on AMC alone delivered 972k total viewers, including 404k adults 25-54 and 300k adults 18-49 in Nielsen live+3 ratings – making the series the #1 new cable drama premiere of 2023 in both the key 25-54 and 18-49 demos. The second highest premiere in the category for the year is Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches.
