Please join us in congratulating your colleagues on the Audio, Design, International, Photo, Sports and Video desks for their recent wins in the Edward R. Murrow Awards. The Radio Television Digital News Association honored The Post with two Murrow’s this year, for Excellence in Sound and for Sports Reporting.
For Excellence in Sound, The Post won for ‘Saving the Sounds of an Ancient City,’ an immersive dive into the rapidly changing soundscape of Cairo. The project was led by international visual enterprise editor Reem Akkad and carried the expansive byline of then-Cairo bureau chief of Siobhán O’Grady, designer Frank Hulley-Jones, senior video graphics editor Sarah Hashemi, associate audio producer Emma Talkoff and freelance photographer Sima Diab. Additional editing by Madison Walls, Alan Sipress, Olivier Laurent and copy editing by Karen Funfgeld.
For Sports Reporting, The Post won for ‘The Ones Who Made It,’ a comprehensive look at 26 Black men who became head coaches in the NFL. The story and video presentation, led by sports enterprise reporter Michael Lee and senior video producer Jayne Orenstein interviewed 16 of the coaches on-camera about their career paths and views on the problems that persist in the NFL. The overall project was a newsroom-wide effort with additional reporting by Jerry Brewer, Candace Buckner and Dave Sheinin.
