Chiefs-Chargers in Mexico City Delivers 12.7 Million Viewers

Last night’s Monday Night Football game, Kansas City Chiefs’ 24-17 victory in Mexico City, averaged 12,677,000 viewers on ESPN and ESPN Deportes, according to Nielsen.

Viewership for MNF’s last NFL International Series game in Mexico City (Texans-Raiders) on ESPN and ESPN Deportes was 11,931,000 in 2016.

The Chiefs-Chargers MNF game helped ESPN win the night among all networks, broadcast or cable, in households, viewers and all key male and adult demos (18-34, 18-49, 25-54 and 55+). MNF was also the highest-rated telecast of the night across all broadcast and cable networks among the same demos. ESPN has now won the night all 11 Mondays since the start of the NFL season, while MNF has been the No. 1 telecast those same weeks.

On ESPN, Chiefs-Chargers averaged 12,567,000 viewers. The audience peaked from 9:30-9:45 p.m. ET with 14,821,000 viewers. ESPN Deportes added 109,000 viewers.



The top 10 markets: San Diego (17.2), Las Vegas (11.7), Denver (11.6), Seattle-Tacoma (11.1), Sacramento (10.5), Portland, Ore. (9.9), San Francisco (9.9), Austin, Texas (9.8), Cleveland (9.8) and Phoenix (9.4).

Through 12 games, MNF’s average audience of 12,604,000 viewers is up six percent season-to-date (vs. 11,916,000 in 2018).

ESPN Deportes’ Monday Night Football average audience of 101,000 viewers is up 22 percent season-to-date (82,000 in 2018)

Next Week: Lamar Jackson, one of the leading candidates for NFL MVP. The Baltimore Ravens travel west to face Jared Goff. The defending NFC champion Los Angeles Rams on ESPN’s Monday Night Football (Nov. 25 at 8 p.m. ET).

Local Markets

Kansas City: The game delivered a 16.8 rating on ESPN and a 32.8 rating on KMBC-ABC for a combined 49.6 rating. MNF‘s second-best rating in Kansas City, behind only the 52.8 for Chiefs-Rams in 2018.

Los Angeles: The game delivered a 7.0 rating on ESPN and a 5.6 on KABC-ABC for a combined 12.6 rating.
