NBC Sports’ unprecedented 30th season broadcasting Notre Dame Football will be highlighted in 2020 by three prime-time games on NBC against some of the best programs in college football – Clemson, Wisconsin, and Stanford.
Three-time national coach of the year Brian Kelly will lead the Fighting Irish in search of a fourth-straight season with double-digit victories in 2020. After ranking among the top-15 nationally in both scoring offence and scoring defence a season ago, the Irish return their two leading tacklers at linebacker, veterans at the line on both sides of the ball, and a signal-caller in Ian Book poised to become the school’s all-time wins leader.
On Nov. 7 at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC, the Fighting Irish hosts QB Trevor Lawrence and Clemson in the first meeting between the two powerhouse programs since the 2018 College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Cotton Bowl. The Tigers went on to win the national title that season and have qualified for the College Football Playoff four of the last five years.
On Oct. 3, NBC Sports will present the 2020 Shamrock Series game between Notre Dame and Wisconsin at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC. The match-up will take place at iconic Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wis., which was named after former Fighting Irish player and Pro Football Hall of Famer Curly Lambeau.
The game will mark the side’s first visit to Lambeau Field and the first match-up between the Fighting Irish and the Badgers since Sept. 26, 1964, when Notre Dame won, 31-7, at Wisconsin.
The following weekend, on Oct. 10, Stanford travels to Notre Dame Stadium for a primetime matchup at 7:30 p.m. ET. In last year’s meeting, Notre Dame defeated Stanford, 45-24, at Stanford Stadium. The longtime rivals have met 34 times dating back to 1924, with Notre Dame holding a 21-13 advantage.
