Rob Abernathy Releases New Single “Bar Tan”

Nashville, TN – July 19, 2024 – Country music artist Rob Abernathy is thrilled to announce the release of his highly anticipated new single, “Bar Tan.” This fun and witty track, co-written with Thomas White of White Cabin Publishing, is poised to become a bar anthem for the summer.

The song, conceptualized in 2021, was inspired by a simple yet hilarious idea presented by White during a phone call. “Tom brought me the idea of the song and basically just gave me the line, ‘Bar Tan,’” says Abernathy. “I immediately stopped in my tracks. The idea of a guy who frequents a bar so much that he gets a tan from the neon lights from a stage just sounded funny to me. We worked out several ideas and came up with a witty song that actually sounds like a few people I know.”

To bring this lively concept to life, Abernathy collaborated with producer Josh Bright and recorded the track at Saxman Studios in Nashville, TN. The goal was to create a bar anthem in the spirit of Garth Brooks’ “Friends in Low Places,” culminating in a chorus designed for a sing-along.

The accompanying music video was a true labor of love, shot in two memorable locations. The first part was filmed at Hop Springs in Murfreesboro, TN, with the help of Neon Leaf Media. Abernathy’s wife stars in the video, depicting a woman who is unimpressed by the antics of Abernathy’s character, who is playfully over-the-top in his bar behavior. Friends and family played a significant role in the production, including Abernathy’s friend and guitarist Nick Williams, and his son Blake Douglas, both performing on stage.

The second half of the video was captured at Beef O’Brady’s in Hoover, AL, during a vibrant New Year’s Eve celebration. Surrounded by longtime friends and supporters, Abernathy created a festive and engaging atmosphere, encouraging the crowd to sing along. The band in the video features Abernathy’s regular musicians, including George McCluney, the owner of Beef O’Brady’s, on drums. “It was so much fun to involve friends and family in this project,” says Abernathy.

“Bar Tan” is now available on all major streaming platforms. Fans can also watch the entertaining music video on Rob Abernathy’s official YouTube channel.
