‘Hello Again’ is the latest single from Melbourne singer songwriter Salli Edwards. An upbeat contrast from her previous track, the haunting and dreamy ‘Stars and Snowflakes,’ the new release features a catchy melody boosted by infectious electric guitar hooks and a killer lead solo.
Written with frequent collaborator Mike Cooper in San Francisco, ‘Hello Again’ is from the ‘City Life’ album which includes the critically acclaimed ‘Apartments’ which was a semi-finalist in the Unsigned Only International Songwriting competition. Many of the songs on the album are drawn from Edwards’ reflections and observations on life in the city.
“The lyrics are ripped from my journal, filled over the years as I was walking around the city, or scribbling in my notebook while sitting in cafes and watching the world go by,” she says. “It imagines a hypothetical situation where you might run into an old flame and wondering what might happen. Would it be an awkward situation? Especially if things ended badly. Or if enough time has passed, you might end up being friends eventually. I’ve had lots of conversations with friends about this very thing happening.
“Ultimately, I like to write songs that people can relate to. Most of my lyrics are very personal but also very universal, touching on things like the dynamics of human relationships which listeners can immediately identify with.”
