“MEET THE PRESS WITH KRISTEN WELKER” IS #1 IN THE KEY DEMO

May 29, 2024 — Meet the Press with Kristen Welker (MTP) was the #1 Sunday public affairs show in the key demo for the month of May, according to data from Nielsen Media Research.

MTP increased its viewership across-the-board vs. the prior month and the prior year.

#1 in the Key Demo in May

MTP ranked #1 in the A25-54 demo in May, averaging 448,000 viewers in the demo most valued by news advertisers.

MTP outperformed ABC’s This Week by +94,000 demo viewers (+27%) and CBS’s Face the Nation by +30,000 (+7%). Compared to April, MTP improved its demo lead vs. ABC and reversed the gap vs. CBS.

May’s numbers were buoyed by newsmaking interviews with Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps, Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.), Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), and more.

The broadcast averaged 2.280 million total viewers per week in May, leading ABC by +63,000 (+3%) and trailing CBS, which continues to rate for just 30 minutes of its hour-long program, by just 13%.

This past Sunday, MTP aired a special edition on the threat to democracy, featuring a joint interview with four bipartisan secretaries of state. All four broadcast public affairs shows were unrated for Memorial Day.

Reaches 5M Views on Digital This Month

MTP reached more than 5M views across digital platforms in May. On YouTube, full episodes averaged 282,000 viewers, with the average viewer watching for 21 minutes per episode.

Undefeated in the Nation’s Capital

MTP has never lost a month in total viewers in the Washington, D.C. market. Among total viewers, MTP has not lost a Sunday in the nation’s capital in over eight years.
