After mesmerising his audience with the mellow beats in his single, R.E.M. State, which featured on his What If I EP, the alt-indie singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer, KAIS, answered the call to add an old-school hip-hop top-line to the beat.
In the wake of deciding that Garrison Cade’s cadence and creativity would mellifluously flow with the dreamily ascending cinematic beats, collaborative chemistry soon started to spill as KAIS made his first entry into the hip-hop arena with R.E.M. State. While Cade brings the fervently rhythmic wordplay, KAIS’ beats scintillate through the reconstructed by contrast catharsis.
Garrison Cade has already taken the Canadian West Coast by storm with his alternative/indie band, Sam the Astronaut; now the talented rapper is set for international acclaim as he and KAIS plan further ventures following the reworking of R.E.M. State, which will hit the airwaves on May 30.

R.E.M. State is the ‘Kaytranada – Bus Ride’ inspired track that started out as an instrumental on the ‘What If I’ EP released last February. A few ppl were asking for an old-school Hip-Hop top-line to the beat, and I thought Garrison Cade would make the perfect fit. Garrison is a talented rapper who also fronts ‘Sam the Astronaut’, a popular Canadian West Coast, Alternative/Indie band. I believe Garrison has the right pre-reqs for someone I could tour or perform a couple shows with at some point.

What does it sound like when two powerhouses collide? Delve into the transcendent depths of R.E.M. State and find out; while we loved the artful ambience of the instrumental iteration for the temperate atmosphere that oscillated through our speakers, the hip-hop revival of the single reached the serendipitous pinnacle of visionary synergy.
