Isle be back – Designing The Hebrides returns for second series with interior designer Banjo Beale

Interior design guru, Banjo Beale, is back on the road (and ferry) again as filming gets underway on a second series of Designing The Hebrides, which will see him visit stunning Scottish locations to showcase his distinctive make-overs. A co-commission for BBC Scotland and BBC Two, the new six-part series (6×30) is produced by DSP Production (a Banijay UK company).

Following the successful debut earlier this year, the second series sees Banjo visit some of Scotland’s most beautiful Hebridean locations including the Isle of Easdale, Isle of Harris, South Uist and, of course, Banjo’s home island, Mull.

Banjo once again joins forces with his friendly team of tradespeople as they travel across the Scottish islands using their craft skills, energy and creativity to bring his Hebridean design dreams to life. Designing the Hebrides will air on BBC Scotland, BBC Two and BBC iPlayer in 2024.

Banjo is delighted to be back on his island interior adventures: “I was genuinely blown away by the response to the first series of Designing The Hebrides. This new series will be even more wild as I hit the road with my motley crew of tradespeople and the breakout star of the show… Grampa the dog.

“Designing the Hebrides takes a resourceful approach to renovating, rummaging for materials and weaving a little bit of magic to deliver designs that don’t cost the earth. Once again I’ll be up against it with wild weather and logistical headaches, amidst a backdrop of stunning scenery and straight talking islanders. It’s going to be my biggest adventure yet!

“The Hebrides and our beautiful island community of Mull captured people’s hearts and it really helped to make this more than a makeover show. It’s a real honour to share our patch of paradise with the world. Main Street, Tobermory will be buzzing with the news the series is back!”

Each week, Banjo and his design team embrace a unique interior design project, fulfilling the client’s brief on a limited budget and a fast turnaround. Set against stunning Scottish landscapes and amidst the challenges of hard-to-reach locations and extreme conditions, Designing The Hebrides showcases distinctive makeovers, encapsulating Banjo’s irrepressible enthusiasm, ingenuity and design flair.

Designing The Hebrides is a DSP production (a Banijay UK company) commissioned by Louise Thornton, Head of Commissioning BBC Scotland, and Catherine Catton, Head of Commissioning, Factual Entertainment and Events. The Commissioning Editors are Steve Allen and Clare Mottershead. The Executive Producers are Donna Clark and John Featherstone.
