Lisbon-based techno producer Victor Ruiz executes an elevating techno take on the legendary “Strobe.” Shares Ruiz, “deadmau5 has been one of the biggest influences in my career. . . remixing [Strobe] was a true honor and a massive personal milestone.”
Building up the all-star package, the Layton Giordani remix–which previously was released earlier this fall, becoming one of the 100 most played tracks at global music industry gathering ADE–was touted by EDM.com, “A paradoxical beast of nostalgia and futurism, Giordani’s remix is far more than just a nod to electronic music history. About Victor Ruiz:
Born in Brazil and currently based in Lisbon, Victor Ruiz has been a constant presence on the world stage since 2013 and is widely regarded for his mesmerizing DJ performances, tough yet groovy techno productions and his trailblazing label, Volta Records. Victor moved to Europe in 2018, and from his European base, he has been able to explore the globe with a packed diary of gigs all over the world from New Zealand to Israel, Turkey to the USA, Portugal, Denmark and Argentina. Appearances at globally-renowned festivals such as Tomorrowland and Boom demonstrate his high profile, while demand in North America means he is crossing the Atlantic on a regular basis.
In the studio his playful attitude has led to a series of notable releases on labels including Drumcode, Noir Music, Suara, Senso Sounds and many more, taking pride of place alongside his exceptional collection of edits – including The Prodigy’s ‘Breathe’ and Depeche Mode’s classic ‘Everything Counts.’ In October 2022, Victor launched Volta Records which has already been home to chart-topping releases with Andata’s ‘Play Hard’ flying high on the Beatport charts, plus his own ‘Touch The Darkness’ also achieving a Top 10 spot and staying there for several months.
A consummate professional, Victor delivers powerful performances with every show, aiming to challenge and entertain the dance floor in equal measure. With an innovative sound that embodies darkness and grit through lush instrumentation, OddKidOut makes music for the underdog. Hailing from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the 29-year-old multi-instrumentalist, DJ and producer has spent most of his life behind a drum kit, performing in a multitude of touring bands by the young age of 13. Having eventually swapped the drum kit for a finger drum controller and Ableton while still in his formative teenage years, OddKidOut’s unique brand was born.
The 2017 release of OddKidOut’s breakthrough EP Solstice, which released on Skillex’s imprint OWLSA, cemented him as a standout within the electronic music scene, garnering high praise from all corners of the industry. Since then, OddKidOut has released on a plethora of labels including Insomniac’s imprints BASSRUSH, Hard Records and Lost in Dreams; artist-driven labels Ophelia, Fool’s Gold, Mau5trap and Bitbird; and major labels such as Warner, where he released his official remix of NLE Choppa’s viral hit ‘Slut Me Out 2’ in 2024.
