‘GOOD MORNING AMERICA’ IS AMERICA’S NO. 1 MORNING NEWSCAST IN TOTAL VIEWERS
Season to Date, ‘GMA’ Stands as No. 1 Morning Newscast in Total Viewers for the 11th Consecutive Year and Slashes Its Margin With ‘Today’ in Adults 25-54 to Its Closest Performance in 8 Years
“Good Morning America” ranked as the No. 1 morning newscast in Total Viewers (2.984 million) during the week of Aug. 28, 2023, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. “GMA” beat NBC’s “Today” (2.690 million) by 294,000 Total Viewers.
Season to date, “GMA” (3.159 million) is ranking as the No. 1 morning newscast in Total Viewers for the 11th consecutive year. “GMA” is leading “Today” (2.820 million) by 339,000, increasing its lead from the same point last season (+44%; vs. 236,000) to its largest in 8 years ― since the 2014-2015 season.
In addition, “GMA” is slashing its season margin with “Today” in Adults 25-54 versus the same point last season (-61% – 12,000 vs. 31,000) to its closest performance in 8 years ― since the 2014-2015 season.
During the week, “GMA” (2.984 million, 589,000 and 379,000, respectively) beat “CBS Mornings” (2.355 million, 483,000 and 322,000, respectively) in Total Viewers (+629,000), Adults 25-54 (+106,000) and Adults 18-49 (+57,000).
NOTE: On Wednesday (8/30/23), “CBS Mornings” was retitled to “CBS Morn” due to a special report on Hurricane Idalia. On Friday (9/1/23), “Good Morning America” was retitled to “GMA-ABC,” “CBS Mornings” was retitled to “CBS Morn” and “Today” was retitled to “Today-TS” due to the Labor Day weekend. The retitled telecasts are excluded from the week and season averages. “Good Morning America”’s and “Today”’s weekly averages are based on four days (Monday-Thursday), while “CBS Mornings” weekly averages are based on three days (Monday, Tuesday and Thursday).
