The Washington Post today announced the wide-release of its first-ever games newsletter, Game Break. Anchored by quiz writer Amy Parlapiano, the newsletter provides daily links to The Post’s suite of games, including Post-created games On The Record and Keyword, as well as statistics on how the rest of the players scored on the previous day’s games. Parlapiano starts each newsletter by engaging with the Post’s games community, often addressing reader feedback, providing insights into why certain news stories were featured or explaining particularly confounding games or questions. The newsletter has been in beta-mode for the past few weeks reaching a highly engaged gaming audience.
“The gaming community at The Post has grown immensely in recent years, making it clear to us that there was an appetite among our readers for a dedicated space to interact with our games,” said Amy Parlapiano. “In the past few weeks that Game Break has been in beta testing, the average click-through-rate has already become the second highest in our newsletter portfolio. We are excited to fully launch Game Break and provide our readers with a dedicated platform to explore our suite of games while continuing to engage with readers.”
